Bob Moran, a pioneering sports journalist in Arizona and just an all around guy, passed way Tuesday after a 3 1/2-year battle with stomach cancer. He was 55.

Moran was an excellent journalist and an even better person. He will certainly be missed.

Bob was on my first Pac-10 Skywriters tour in 1983. Great guy, great newspaperman. Sorry to hear this. He knew ASU inside out.

A really good guy who tried to be fair to people and who understood how colleges work (parents were profs in Louisiana). He turned down chances to go to some of the biggest papers in the nation because he loved living in Arizona. I remember in 1990 someone asked me to recommend someone for an NBA beat and I mentioned Bob. That SE said a couple people beat me to it and that he wasn't interested.

Very sad news. I crossed paths with Bob several times during my time in the state, and he was a fantastic guy. RIP.

Terrible, terrible news. I echo the other posters. Bob was a good man and a good newspaperman. We worked together ages ago at the Arizona Daily Star. It was always great to see him when I had assignments in Phoenxi.

RIP, my friend, RIP.
