I met Barry once in my life. A bunch of my co-workers and I drove to the Garden in the early '80s for a college basketball doubleheader, and one of them had worked with Barry previously.
To this day, I remember what he was like -- a real mensch. Had a great evening with him, hearing some of the stories. I bet he had a truckload of them to this point.
The luminaries paying tribute today are a who's who of sports broadcasting.
