Heck of a guy, Jeff Samuels. Unfortunately, he passed away on Sunday.

He didn't win his battle with cancer, but Jeff was a winner all the way. He was only 56.

I met Jeff a few times. Wonderful guy, a hard-core newspaperman who loved the business, and a guy who always seemed to have a glimmer in his eye - like he was thinking of something funny and clever but he wasn't quite ready to tell you.

My deepest condolences to Suzanne and the family. May he rest in peace.
