Survivor has never been Reality TV. It's a game show.

This.

I watch it for the same reason that I choose to watch other shows. They entertain me. It's that simple.

Thanks, Lies. They're not sovling the world's problems or curing cancer. It's freaking TV. Sit back and enjoy it or turn he channel.

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

Survivor is terrible

No. "Survivor" jumped the shark after about the third season. I know I'll get clobbered for that, but the show's novelty wore off quickly.

Agree. I don't watch any of the reality shows. And I bet Jimmy hangs around for a while because they're advertising him so much. The show doesn't do that unless it's for someone they need as a draw deep into the run.

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

I definitely watched. Mediocre first episode.

"I just got a pep talk from Jimmy Johnson!!"

You knew he wouldn't be the one voted off. Didn't they show scenes with Johnson's face covered in mud? And his face was not covered in mud anytime during last night's episode, right?

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

Jimmy told my friend that he lost 36 pounds while taping. And that was after losing more than 30 to get on the show. I'm guessing jury at least, if not close to the finals.

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

I found it interesting that they split the group by age. And if I was Kelly I would've held off on telling them she had lost her leg at least until she got through one challenge just so that she can prove herself. Especially now knowing that that challenge didn't involve running. But the group I was watching with said that she can't wear long pants forever, which is true.

I knew they wouldn't vote off JJ the first epi but I don't think he's long for this world. And based on the promo's for next week, I think that's wear we see the mud on his face.

And I think I hate Shannon, but he's fun to look at.

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

If he lost 36 pounds DURING the show, he'll be around for a good while.

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

How does all that work exactly?

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

Probst said on his blog that Johnson had failed the physical to get on the show twice.

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

If he lost 36 pounds, he makes it at least until the merge. Granted, he has it to lose (not that he's fat) and a lot of players don't.

The question speaks for itself.

If yes, indicate if you're a first-time or former Survivor fan.

No

I watched it once when they broke it up by race, but after the black guy took a nap instead of doing work, they broke them up an episode or two later, and I stopped watching.

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

They obviously had to engineer the challenges to remove some of the physical aspects. Usually a lot of the early challenges requires key components of strength or quickness. If they follow that template, the old team will lose every week.
I still think it's weird to have such a well known person in the game. Jean-Robert Bellande and Gary Hogeboom were very minor celebrities. You can't put 10 Americans together without at least one of them knowing who Johnson is, so within a day the other 18 all know he's on TV, that he won the Super Bowl, that he's a millionaire.
It's weird.

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

I just read that the 36 pounds lost was combined for his physical to get on the show and what he lost while in Nicaragua.

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

Also, Jimmy was there one night. He was retching in the dark.
In the morning, he was whining to his teammates and in his camera-confessional.

I think that's where the Power necklace (or whatever it's called) comes into play. The adults' tribe (hey, I'm over 40) could have started with 1/5th of the tank filled. So if they use it correctly it should balanced out the kids' tribe advantage physically.

BTW, how did that one kid stay stoned on the island? Was he smoking coconut husks or something?

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

I don't think Jimmy lost weight at Sequesterville, Loser Lodge, etc. Foodwise, at least, they live like kings.

Re: Will you watch Survivor since Jimmy Johnson's on it?

A friend at Fox told me how far JJ goes. I WILL NOT post it, but if you want to know (assuming he's right). PM me.

It was hinted that JJ had a few extra priviledges in sequester which enabled some to figure out when he got booted.
