R.I.P. George Romero

LA Times reports he died. Or as Dave Weigel of the WaPo put it -- undead at 77. Night of the Living Dead still one of the seminal horror movies ever.

The first three movies in that series were amazing. After that, it got a little weird and stale. But the hare krishna zombie in Dawn of the Dead, and the self-aware Bub in Day of the Dead ... dang, great filmmaking.

'The Walking Dead' visits deserted Pittsburgh in new comic book

I haven't seen any confirmation that the location in a recent issue of The Walking Dead is a nod to Romero, but it would make sense for Kirkman to do it. Kirkman was a fan of Romero's.
