About 2,000 people rallied in several Pakistani cities on Friday, calling for Rushdie to be killed and for a boycott of trade with Britain.

. . .

In India's Muslim-majority Kashmir region, a strike over Rushdie's honor closed most shops, offices and schools in the summer capital, Srinagar.

Do people have nothing better to do?

If we went on strike here over someone being knighted, wouldn't we be fired on the spot?

Does the willingness to drop everything and strike/protest over a relatively trivial honor say more about the culture or the religion?

Story was advanced today.

If you read the link I provided, you'd see that there also was a cleric there saying at Friday prayers how Muslims were all kicked in the balls by this crap.
