I've known this guy for years. This is my hometown (and first newspaper). Pretty sad.

A former Chilton County Sheriff’s deputy and schools employee, along with his wife, were arrested Wednesday on charges of sexual contact with a student under the age of 19 and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

David Hubbard, 40, and Rebecca Hubbard, 35, of Chilton County, were both arrested on two charges each of a school employee having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19 and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to a press release from C.J. Robinson with the 19th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s office.

This has to be reported in case there were any other victims by these two. It's sad his children are caught up in this. But it's not their faults. The kids didn't commit the crime. But his & her children & family will have to learn to not read the comments made. This can't be swept under the rug & kept quiet for the sake of family. This is definitely something that has to be reported.

Well, that has a passing resemblance to English. It's punctuation optional Thursday!

Poin Files protocol (speaking as a past violator): You're supposed to post a pic of the female suspect. Male-on-female (or on male) isn't Poin Files.

wait, it's illegal there to have sex with someone under 19?

With a student under the age of 19. Kansas has a similar sort of law. Even if the victim is of legal age, it's still illegal for a "person of authority" to engage in sexual relations with a student.

OK, fair enough, but isn't he a cop, not a teacher? Wouldn't that mean, in a strange way, that a cop can't have sex with anybody because a police officer is a person of authority over pretty much anyone in the general population.

In this case and the other one on the board, if they are going to go through with such a ridiculous charge I at least hope they have the good sense to not make them register as sex offenders.

"David Hubbard was employed by the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department and the Chilton County Board of Education for the purpose of teaching a class at the LeCroy Career Technical Center geared toward students who were interested in becoming law enforcement officers.

He had previously served as the Chilton County School Resource Officer.

Hubbard resigned from the Chilton County Sheriff’s Department on June 1 to pursue a full-time position teaching at the LeCroy Career Technical Center."
