So, a friend and I are seriously considering hitting the World Series if it's played in Philly.

My experience when going to "big games" is to buy tickets upon arrival, off the street and maybe even after the game starts.

But, there is always a risk of NOT getting tickets.

If that's the case, can anyone suggest a Philly bar at which to watch the game?

Thanks in advance.

There's a McFadden's bar right there in the sports complex. I've never been, but am told it's a great experience. If you don't the fact that a fan was beaten to death outside a few months back.

It's Philly, every bar in the city can make the same claim. :D

McFadden's on the outside of the stadium is a fine choice -- I believe you can go back and forth if you do have a ticket.

Take your gloves and a winter coat.

Chickie and Pete's will be packed, but don't eat there. You can do much better elsewhere.

You'll be far more pleased/comfortable, watching at home.

You could climb on top of a traffic light and let people throw Grey Goose bottles at you.

If you're looking for a place in San Francisco, I spent a couple of very cool evening in the White Horse Tavern on Sutter in Union Square.
I was staying next door at the Marine Club for a few days, and the White Horse was awesome.

I hear good things about a place called Paddy's Pub

You should just sneak through the secret tunnel that's connected to the hotel next to the stadium.

Run onto the field and give Chase Utley this letter for me:

Dear Chase,
I feel like I can call you Chase because you and me are so much alike. I would love to meet you someday. It would be great to have a catch. I know I can’t throw as fast as you, but I think you would be impressed by my speed. I love your hair. You run fast. Did you have a good relationship with your father? Me neither. These are all things we can talk about. And more. I know you have not been getting my letters because I know you would write back if you did. And I hope you write back this time and we get to be good friends. I’m sure our relationship would be a real home run.

The Giants-Rangers will look the same from any bar. And plenty of good seats available everywhere.

Has Matthew Clemmens opened a bat in Philadelphia, yet?

That should be worth it on atmosphere alone.
