All three are good decisions.

Others in are the 1966 NCAA champion Texas Western team, Van Chancellor, former NBA referee Mendy Rudolph and international coaches Pedro Ferrandiz of Spain and Mirko Novosel of Yugoslavia.

In addition to Dickie V falling short, Eddie Sutton also didn't make it.

Oh, there will be hell to pay tonight on TV.
Also, no Eddie Sutton, but yes to Roy Williams, is a bit of a joke.

Why the **** would Vitale even be up for consideration? Do they have a broadcaster's wing?

No, there is no broadcaster's wing. Vitale was considered as a contributor to the sport of basketball.

There's going to be hell to pay tonight on TV? Billy Packer is popping a bottle of champagne to celebrate Duke Vitale not getting in. I have to agree about Roy Williams. Eddie Sutton doesn't get in, but Huckleberry Hound does? I don't get it. ???

The TV in question, on which there will be hell to pay, is located elsewhere on your cable package.

What did he contribute? Annoying commentary? Love of all things Duke? A 34-64 record with the Pistons? Winning with Terry Tyler, John Long and Terry Duerod?

Vitale is horrible. He's been horrible for a long time.
Being horrible isn't the issue, tho I agree.
He was considered as a contributor to the sport and has contributed nothing

Just playing devil's advocate here ... were the terms "March Madness," "Sweet 16," "Elite Eight" or "Final Four" in college basketball fans' vocabulary before Vitale? Or in some way did he help turn the NCAA Tournament from a simple tournament into more of an event, complete with wall-to-wall first- and second-round coverage by Vitale's employer?

Vitale didn't help that.
The 1979 season -- while Vitale was ****ing the Pistons up -- did that

Speaking of 79, ESPN Classic showed the Bird-Magic game last night. Pretty cool to see it again. That was the first Final Four I watched.

If Vitale ever goes into the HOF they should just burn the place down...

I thought the same thing. Apparently, screaming a lot and really liking basketball are two of the criteria for entry.

**** Vitale's promoted college basketball better than anyone over the last three decades. Heck, if it wasn't for him ESPN may not have even survived. You don't have to like him but to suggest that he doesn't deserve Hall consideration is short-sighted.

As good as he is, **** Vitale could only make the Hall of Fame as a broadcaster, and maybe he does deserve to be there.
But look at the bigger picture. Does he?

“When he said I had been elected, it was a real shock, and for the first time in my life, I can remember Roy Williams being speechless.”

Roy must have forgotten OT against Georgetown. He stood there, jaw agape, speechless the entire time. Guess Ol' Roy gives a damn about the HOF.
