RIP Jesse Jackson

Seemed to be the guy corporations brought in, paid for racial sensitivity training after a widely-publicized event to wash it of its sins. For a nice fee of course.
Kind of like Tony Dungy does in the sports arena.
Disagree, there is/was real substance to Rev. Jackson, unlike the other guy.

I'm not dismissing him at all. He's always been at the forefront of businesses walking the walk and not just talking the talk, back to the Operation Breadbasket days in the Civil Rights Movement.

This overly cynical take is inaccurate imo. He was the real deal.

Really though that’s how he got portrayed to large chunks of the public, which formed my initial impression. It seemed like he was either mad about civil rights stuff that had been solved in the 60s or shaking down businesses if they did something stupid around the topic of race.

I was too dumb to know what I didn’t know and that the problems I thought were solved very much were not.

Compared to everyone who had meetings and listening encounters with him, I got nothing. But I voted for him once anyway.

Way more significantly, back in the day, so did one of my now full-on Trumper brothers.

Hey, remember when Rush Limbaugh mocked him all the time on his show. Hey, what did people say about Rush again? Oh yeah!

If you would like to know about the Reverend's business practices. check with Anheuser-Busch and/or NASCAR.

Jesse Jackson enters the Pearly Gates. He's greeted immediately by Jesus.

"Jesse! My man! C'mon in, brother!"

Jesse sees MLK Jr. seated to the right of Jesus, and then Rosa Parks, Malcolm X and a whole host of other Civil Rights leaders. But in the corner, there's a little ugly-ass Chihuahua, barking its head off until Jesus yanks the chain around its collar and it gives a little whimper before curling up in a ball.

"How many times have I told you to shut up when we have company, Rush?"

The No. 5 story on the Today show. smh

We’re only two minutes in, but NBC Nightly News listed 10 news topics they were going to talk about. Lede with Missing Mom Guthrie. Two segments on Olympics. One bad weather segment. One segment on toddler stuck inside arcade claw machine. Nothing listed on Rev. Jackson.

ADD: They did do a story on him about halfway through the show. They showed multiple still photos and speech clips, ran an Obama statement and showed his family. Just no opening promo. At least they didn’t story before their Olympics hype.

How long can they open with 10 minutes on Savannah’s mom every night? I don’t see how she could be alive

Cynical me says as long as they're still getting a ratings bump. The truth is, there have been very, very few new developments that warrant being a lead at this point. Some early "former FBI type" said it best early on, if whoever was responsible could provide proof of life, they would have by now.
