Tiger's going to have the weekend free.
+6 after six, and bogies 7. First wince of back pain as he ****ed up another tee shot on 7.

This ****ing guy. Back pain starts up as soon as he ****s the bed, golf-wise. Its become a Pavlovian response for him by now.

Or maybe coming off BACK surgery he really does have back pain.

He shouldn't be out there and shouldn't come back until he is ready. He won 5 times last year healthy, health right now should be his only focus.

He said that last sunday's back pain was unrelated to the back surgery. I think he lies so much, he can't keep it all straight.

Maybe, but I'm reluctant to crucify him on the back pain.

I wish he'd just shut it down and go away until he his healthy. Although I'm not sure he will ever be able to stay healthy.

PGA Radio on XM was talking about how difficult it is to win a major as the No. 1 Player in the world. The last player to do so not named Tiger? Fred Couples.

Having spent a lot of this summer with a slipped disc, then sciatica, I understand the reluctance to crucify him. However, I cannot understand how he had the supposed back pain he had last Sunday, then be ready to swing clubs in anger for four consecutive days on Thursday.

Remember TW - for better or worse - is coming back from injuries quicker than he should.
Several experts said the recovery time for TW's back injury is double the amount of time off he took. I think he did the same with his leg or knee injury as well.

I read somewhere one of his concerns has to do with golfers not being consider athletes, especially with regard to injuries.

I feel your pain, boy do I ever feel your pain.

You very well could be right. I have found that with backs they can come and go at any time for any reason. I can see how he is playing just 4 days after especially with the trainers and pharmaceuticals he has at his disposal.

Perhaps he was being more dramatic than the actual pain called for.
This seems the most likely.

You can definitely play -- and play well -- after an episode of back spasms. Playing during the episode, now that's another matter.

Winning score for the week: 14-under? Course is certainly yielding some birdies, which is fun to watch.

The combined winning score under par of this calendar year's four majors may set a record. I don't think Tiger was this good in his slam year.

Masters — -8 (Bubba Watson)
US Open — -9 (Martin Kaymer)
(British) Open — -17 (Rory McIlroy)
PGA — ????

The great thing about the PGA of America is that they don't mind guys shooting 65 or 66 one or two rounds during the week. They set the course up fair in that it's never too tough or too easy.

I wish the USGA would do that. It's a totally different mindset, having to make some birdies and eagles instead of always scrambling to save par.

Great looking leaderboard. Furyk is one shot behind, Mickelson is 3 behind. Lots of guys within 5-6 shots on a course where a 65 or 66 is very possible.

A major championship is supposed to challenge the players.

I don't think so. On Sunday he was walking like someone in serious back pain. He's not that good an actor.

He looked awful yesterday from the first hole in terms of walking and bending down. I think he didn't WD just to save face

Yeah, I don't blame people for being skeptical, but it looked to me like he was walking with a noticeable limp all day. And trying to lash that ball off the slope early in the round was a really bad idea.

And once again Bubba's ass clown antics draw attention.

CBS Sports golf analyst Nick Faldo says Tom Watson should select Tiger Woods as a captain's pick for the US Ryder Cup team next month. Not sure I agree. Woods is struggling with his health and game right now and maybe someone else would be a better pick.
