This has been addressed already. I don't think anybody has a problem with Peter King criticizing the Saints. It's the way he went about it that is the problem.

If I were to start taking up arms on Twitter and calling out various people in my audience for certain wrongs they have committed, my editor would fire me in a nanosecond. Why? It's unprofessional and unbecoming of my position and reflects poorly on the publication as a whole.

Not saying SI should fire PK, just pointing out the reason why he should be roundly ridiculed for the old doddering fool that he is. Keep in mind, this is the same guy who once wrote a column about cheating a 7-year-old kid out of a foul ball and then got all indignant and self-righteous when about a thousand people called him out on it.

I read him, not a huge fan. Why does he suck? My guess is he insulted the Saints somehow and that has twisted your opinion of him. What he put on twitter is exactly what he would write in his mmqb column.

As about three other people have done here, you're attributing motives to myself that don't exist and I would appreciate it if you stopped painting with such a broad brush.

Regardless of my personal opinion on the guy's writing, I just thought it was funny. Doesn't have to be any more complicated than that. Regardless, I think I showed above an example of exactly why I find him distasteful on a professional level.

It is quite illuminating to see the mob mentality though. Since I happen to be a Saints fan who dared discuss sports on a message board for sports journalists, I obviously deserve to be piled on even though I haven't expressed one iota of the "homerism" currently being attributed. LOL. It's like a bunch of fifth-graders in here.

I don't think it's a "story" necessarily; other than the original Twitter feed and a message board thread I haven't seen anything else about it. Not that big a deal; some people thought it was funny and some didn't. Different strokes I guess.
