Perseids meteor shower...

... anyone else going to spend a little time out in the middle of the night tonight watching the show?

We caught some of the precursors last night, including a few that created streaks in the sky that stretched from one horizon halfway to the other. Gorgeous stuff!

Show gets going pretty steady around 11 p.m., with 4 a.m. listed as the peak time. (All times local...)

I saw this online today. I figured I'd head outside around 1 or 2 a.m. No streetlights in my neighborhood, so I should be good to go. And we have a hammock. :)

We didn't know that the universe was going to have a special presentation when we planned our holiday.

Just out of curiosity, do Americans say "holiday" when they're going on "vacation"?

it's a little too overcast to see the meteors here.

Besides I'm still recovering from a night of no a/c in the office. Even with a fan it was like a sauna. It was so bad I cut the old pair of blue jeans I was wearing down into shorts.

I went out for a bit with a bottle of Yuengling. Saw three meteors. Then I realized I hate sitting alone outside in the dark in a neighborhood I don't know that well, so I high-tailed it in.

saw one monster one that streaked from one end of the skyline to the other ... and some little ones.
