My Opinion:

He's not bad, but he has a lot of annoying habits. Among them:

1. Constantly refering to his wife (of at least 5 years, I believe) as
his 'bride.' Dude, grow a pair, ok?

2. His proud namedropping of asshats like Sean Hannity as a
personal friend. Hannity is a knob-gobbler, no matter your
political affiliation.

3. He holds huge grudges (maybe it's the Philly upbringing). He
despises the NY teams (not that I disagree), and loves taunting
them and their fans, relentlessly. He does similar taunting and
razzing to other objects of derision. Although I will say, he does
it well.

4. He's smarmy as phuck, to an annoying degree. We're talking
Mike Greenberg smarmy.

5. He's an unbelievable suck-up to those he thinks can help him out,
to the network, etc. He's the kid who brings the teacher an
apple every day. About two levels above a 'company man.' It's
nauseating.

Other thoughts? I'd love to hear some of those more familiar with his work.

Lord, he's a moron.

He's saying that Dallas doesn't have guts in not hiring Jason Garrett yet, that is, in what capacity. Dumbass, they did that because Miami forced their hand, as did Parcells and his late move. You play the hand you're dealt.

If I can get Wade Phillips with his 3-4 knowledge, I'd get him, too. Norv Turner, well...

Oh, and I forgot:

6. He handles criticism as well as a 2 year old. He takes
legitimate, critical emails and makes personal attacks on
the people who write them, kind of like a Colin Cowherd.
Very weak, giving the embarrasing appearance of his
thinking he's infallible, which is laughable.

Thank you, Chris Mortensen, for just alerting the clueless Kincaid about the Dolphins deadline on Garrett. Thank God someone is at least somewhat professional.

Re: Opinions Sought: John Kincaid of ESPN radio (and based in ATL)

My God, Mortensen is embarrasing Kincaid and his lack of knowledge on Turner and Garrett. Wow. Thank you, CM. What a hack JK is! Great stuff.

Garrett's a legacy, based on Daddy's long-term status with the organization. Plus, he'll work relatively cheap. A great life -- if you're the delusional Jerry Jones.

Atlanta's long been an utter wasteland, re sports talkshow talent. This clown hasn't altered the equation one inch.

My biggest problem with Kincaid is that he's ill-informed. It's typical of people who are natural talkers -- talkers never listen.

I agree that he handles callers with opposing viewpoints very poorly. He cannot have an intelligent debate, he has to put them down. Why would people continue to call when they hear the treatment they might get?

Good points on Garrett and Kincaid, BH. :)

Great points on talkers don't listen, and great question about masochistic callers. I never got that one either, Babs.

I'm not a huge fan over the overhyping of Dungy and Lovie and the whole black coaches Super Bowl thing, but Kincaid is showing his hard-core conservative colors here by just ripping the **** out of talking about it at all. We're getting close to Limbaugh territory here, peeps.

Chill, Johnny, chill.

I've got to agree on the ill-informed comments about Kincaid.

In December he was talking about how he doesn't want to hear who "the Steelers of this season" are. He went through a list of teams that had playoff chances and how they weren't like the Steelers. He got to the Jags and said they had no injuries to overcome on defense. I called ESPN radio, got a producer who wouldn't let me talk to Kincaid himself. So I told the producer to tell Kincaid that he's talking out of his ass - the best tackler, Mike Peterson; the heart and soul of the D, Donovin Darius; and one of the best DTs in the league, Marcus Stroud all missed significant time this season. In fact, Peterson and Darius both had season-ending injuries.

I just little stuff like that that guys shouldn't get away with. I understand radio guys usually don't consider themselves journalists, therefore, they probably think they can get away with being inaccurate. But if you've got millions listening, you need to get stuff right.

Does anyone else think John Seibel and Doug Gottleib sound exactly alike? That's probably why they were never on GameNight together and Freddy Coleman was inserted.

The Hannity thing is enough for me.
Between them, they have a college degree.

Couldn't agree more. Good that you called in.

Hell, yeah. Gottlieb's a blowhard, but he is smart. He has his own Gamenight show now, The Pulse. Douggie needed his own show. Give me a break.

Yep. Kincaid is a hard-core conservative.

Kincaid's good at what he does. A radio show is about the host's opinions and getting you to react to them. He certainly got a reaction out of you, and did so without being annoying enough that you flipped the dial or switched your radio off.

Although he's not bad in his national work, Kincaid's most effective in his local host role in Atlanta. He plays the bad cop to Buck Belue's local good ol' boy. Local people get pissed at the guy, but the ratings numbers are there to show they listen.

I disagree. I at least find Gottlieb's points of view interesting, although I may not agree. Seibel is as bad as any national host I have heard. He asks poor questions in interview segments, frequently is ill-informed, and does not entertain or display original thought.

Freddie Coleman is on the show because ESPN Radio head exec Bruce Gilbert made it a priority for them to add a black host. He, Kendall Lewis from Cleveland and a couple of former athletes were among those considered. Gilbert also has stated he wants a female host, although Amy Lawrence as a frequent fill-in is the best he's been able to do on that front thus far.

I really like Coleman. He's one of the best-informed and best-prepared hosts I've heard on ESPN radio, bar none. He has a wide breadth of knowledge and an amiable personality. I really like him.

Lawrence does very little for me. Siebel is definitely annoying with his soundbyte 'outs' schtick. Gottlieb annoys me, but for different reasons.

Yeah, he WOULD be a natural on this board. ;)

When Kincaid sits in for Cowherd, it's like there's no change. They both throw outrageous theories out there just to make people disagree with them ... they both treat callers with zero respect when they disagree ... they both have the delivery of that kid in high school you would have loved to smack.

SG - Couldn't have said it better myself. Cowherd and Kincaid deal with dissenters in the same way. Weak.

Yeah, I'd rate them both 1 on a scale of 1-10 in that respect.

Point of reference: I'd rate JT The Brick 0 on that same scale.
