Any other poor saps out there heat your house with this ****?

I prepaid last year at $2.49 a gallon and, of course, the price went down throughout the winter and bottomed out at about $2.

So I said, "**** that prepaid ****" for this year ($2.79) and now, as of today, a gallon costs $3.16! And my 100-year-old house with two 275-gallon tanks gobbles oil. And I don't even have a friggin' fireplace. What house built in 1910 doesn't have a ******* fireplace?

Gotta keep the kids warm, but this blows.

Anyway, just venting as I try to figure out how to pay for this ****. Without actually moving.

Homegrown's alright with me
Homegrown is the way it should be
Homegrown is a good thing
Plant that bell and let it ring

The sun comes up in the morning,
Shines that light around
One day, without no warning
Things start jumping up from the ground

Well, homegrown's alright with me
Homegrown is the way it should be
Homegrown is a good thing
Plant that bell and let it ring

Fireplaces make your home less fuel efficient as I understand it. I only use mine for social occasions.

The best and most efficient way to keep warm remains pulling a Luke Skywalker from The Empire Stikes Back and slicing open a large animal and using its steaming innards as an insulator.

The Humane Society here in my county no longer does business with me.

How many tanks will you go through in a normal winter? $877.25 a tank is a ****load of cash if it only lasts 1-2 months.

Not sure of the exact amount last year, but it was about 1,000 gallons. You can do the math. Ouch.

but using oil heat is so clean. i can see why you'd pay through the nose for it.

Google "high-efficiency flame-retention oil-burners" if you're looking to replace your current furnace. You might save some money. Or you might think about converting to natural gas. Throw a couple thousand at upgraded insulation and you might be able to save that way, too.
