In that case, I have no problem with the archbiship telling Majerus to STFU but he should leave it at that. It is a Catholic University with Catholic values and if an employee disagrees or even agrees with said values he should really keep it to himself.

My larger point is why in the hell is Rick Majerus, Chuck Norris, Alec Baldwin, etc., etc. -- appearing on stage at any of these rallies? Who gives a **** what they think?

This is no different than a CEO issuing a directive to some of his underlings that it isn't good for business if they are spouting their political views in a very public way.

I don't know about your shop, but I know in my shop,we're not permitted to publicly endorse any candidates, even to the point where we can't put political signs in our yard because we are supposed to maintain neutrality.

This isn't that uncommon among big businesses so why should the Catholic church be ripped any more or less?

No, read what I wrote -- we cannot "publicly" endorse candidates or be involved with political organizations. We are strongly encouraged to vote, which is a private excercise of our rights.

Though I must say some of the organizations my publisher belongs to, if they aren't political in nature, they damn sure toe that line.
