All you ever have to know about him is that he asked out and married his mentor attorney at one of the whitest of white shoe law firms in America. When he was a summer associate, which is essentially an intern trying to get a job (which he turned down). If you know anything about big firm culture, whether its legal or Wall Street or whatever, that's an astounding amount of chutzpah.

David Marannis, in writing the upcoming biography of President Obama, tracked down his two ex-girlfriends before Michelle, and they were apparently pretty candid about their relationships, according to the book excerpt in Vanity Fair.

I'm not implying in any way that Obama has any skeletons in his closet or anything like that, but it seems insane that this wasn't done before the 2008 election.

I know both Bushes and Reagan and Clinton and Kerry and McCain all have pasts that were fairly well-documented, but we knew so little about Obama.

Again, I'm not saying there was anything bad out there, but it was surprising how little was mentioned at the time.

I remember reading about a girlfriend of his who may have had an abortion. I don't think it got much traction, but it was out there.

I don't care either, I just was surprised that there seemed to be nothing mentioned, positive or negative about anyone Obama had dated. Maybe it just seemed that way because quite a bit was written about McCain's past. To be fair, McCain had quite the past. :D

It was interesting because people seemed to go after the stupid **** like "He's a muslim." and the birth certificate **** and stuff like that, and even the Jeremiah Wright stuff that some cared about, but for the most part, most people didn't. We got very little of what he was like in college and even the Harvard stuff was pretty limited. I was curious about it just because I'm curious about that stuff. I like the "glimpse of a future president during his younger years"

Ronnie's girlfriends we knew because he was in Hollywood. I don't recall any ex-gf talk about either Bush, nor Clinton — we heard a ton of his post-marital escapades, but I don't remember reading much about his pre-Hillary hook-ups during the campaign.

As for the "we didn't hear much about Obama's college days" meme, we heard a bunch. My dad used that line with me, so I went online and in no time found story after story from classmates and people who knew Obama. It's how the "Barry" nickname came to light, for one thing. There was plenty out there, just nothing scandalous and, thus, not memorable.

My girlfriend -- we live together -- sometimes tells me she loves me.

But whenever I tell her I love her, she says, "Thank you."

The first time she did it, it kind of freaked me out, because I was like "What the hell is that?"

But my standard response became, "Don't mention it," or "Think nothing of it," or "It's my pleasure," and it has become kind of a joke.

I can't believe I just shared that, but it seemed like the time and place.

Again: The Harvard stuff was not "limited." Not in any way, shape, or form. His time at Harvard has been extensively and exhaustively documented, including contemporaneously.

The Columbia time is not well-documented. This seems to be because he was a hermit there. He buckled down as a student and largely lived life as a commuter.
