I'm trying to understand why this meeting had to become 'heated.' It's hard to figure Goodell out. Maybe he should ask himself WWTD more often.

As in, what would Tags do.

This is clearly a case where Goodell is hoping that if he delays this long enough, it will either go away or stop being a NFL problem.

In two weeks when Favre retires for good, for the most part, that will happen.

Goodell's in the four corners at this point. Sterger's advisors moved this along way too slowly. They needed to be decisive and move fast to max out the financial opportunity. Now her leverage with the league is slipping fast.

But if you're in four corners, you don't foul. You don't pick a fight, right?

Why wouldn't Goodell just kiss her ass?

If I'm Goodell I do nothing and advise Sterger to hire Gloria Allred next time.

I know this is totally and completely impossible, but is there a teeny tiny chance that Deadspin overplayed this story and it isn't as cut-and-dried as AJ Daulerio and Jenn Sterger's lawyer would have us believe?

Nah.

If she had hired Allred, she would have gotten a seven-figure settlement within a week.

Her lawyer is an idiot. Once Favre retires, he has no incentive to pay her big money to shut up. She'll end up being lucky to get $100K to go away.

Nah.

If that was the case, Cook would have leaked that to ESPN ages ago.

He probably asked her if they were real.

One of the greatest posts in the history of this board! I have a difficult seeing Sterger as any kind of a victim here. This is a woman who has clearly used her body to advance her career. She certainly doesn't have any talent otherwise.

Why would you kiss her ass? I assume she's making demands that might seem reasonable to her and not so reasonable to the league. The league needs to act as it feels appropriate rather than appease her. If she wants to litigate, let her knock herself out.

Goodell is calling her bluff and I'm guessing he's not too worried about her suing the league.

Goodell doesn't want to suspend Favre and likely won't. Favre retires, and if she's lucky, pays her some ducats to STFU and the story goes away forever.

Once Favre retires, he would have no incentive to pay her a dime. She already spilled it, what damage is there to fear anymore?

This is really working out for her. She gets no money, her show got canceled and now nobody in the sports media world would dare to employ her. Next thing you know one of her tits is going to pop.

I feel a little bad for her because it would have been nice to see a douchebag like Favre get what's coming to him.

She played it terribly. She could have gotten a nice chunk of change at one point. I remember reading something (in SI, I think) that speculated that she could have gotten around $3 million in a settlement from Favre if Favre thought he was facing a 3-game suspension that would have cost him $1.25 mil a game plus millions in endorsements once his career is done.

Should have hired Allred.

Once Favre's streak ended she lost all of her leverage. And really if the NFL disciplined Favre, how many other women (who may not be media personalities) could come forward and demand similar punishments?

The NFL doesn't care if Favre sends pictures of his **** to 100 women as long as none are NFL employees.

Yeah, she should have hired Allred, who managed to portray a porn star being a "victim" when she knowingly ****ed a married man.
