My mother-in-law gave me one of those prepaid cell phones and I keep it in the car. Used it twice in a year. Now Virgin Mobile keeps calling me to put more money on it or lose the service. Started with $100 balance. It's $98.13 now. So be it.

If I can't be reached at work or at home, I probably don't want to be bothered.

Tell us another story, grampa! :)

“We can’t bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell them stories that don’t go anywhere. Like that time I took the ferry over to Shelbyville; I needed a new heel for my shoe. So, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have any white onions, because of the war; the only thing you can get was those big yellow ones."

Obsolescent: Fresca

No way, dude. Fresca is as vital a part of America as it was in ... well ... maybe 2005?

I prefer "scrumtrelescent." As in, "Fresca is the scrumtrelescent bounty offered to the killer of BYH."

Sorry if it's been done on this thread. I didn't read it all.

Apparently, about 99 percent of the Fresca consumed in this country is consumed by board members.

98.. I'm giving it up now that it's Labor Day... you can't wear white shoes or drink Fresca after Labor Day.

MacDaddy's avatar.

No, seriously. The little Mac with the handle and the, what, six-inch screen? There's one acting as a doorstop in my parent's basement as I type this.

Phew. I'm in the clear.

Hold on. I'm looking out the window and I see some a taxi. The passenger is giving his credit card to the driver and the driver is using one of those obsolete machines to make an imprint. Now he's got the card back and the guy is coming to my door with a can of soda in his hand. I wonder what he's drinking!

You can make them into lovely aquariums.

My mom does everything online, too. I just like the feeling of writing out those checks and sending it to all of my lovely debtors.
