The essence of the story: Not only does UBS decide it's going to get rid of 10,000 jobs, but many of these people find out they are among the fired by showing up for work, only to see that their pass to get into the building doesn't work, or their company e-mail no longer works, and when they make a few calls to investigate . . .

No advance notice from the company.
