I thought he'd wait till after the West Virginia game in a year or two. Isn't that one at Morgantown?

Either way, Alabama football under Saban is comparable to UCLA hoops under Wooden.

As @Della9250 noted in the running thread, he's close to several records. The changing times in CFB? Undisclosed illness? Or someone in Tuscaloosa couldn't handle a CFP finale without the Tide?

Finebaum's phone lines may melt down.

This year already felt like a natural inflection point, with playoff expansion and the rise of super conferences, NIL continuing to blow up and now the advent of unlimited free transfers. Now it is a Grand Canyon-sized Before and After.

Yup. He's got generational wealth. He doesn't need all the crap that has come/is coming.

He could probably get hired for any studio show he wanted tomorrow, network budgets be damned. The same might apply for color analyst. But I think he’s done done, even if it is going to be too cold to enjoy the lake for a while yet.

Not knowing the man or situation at all besides what I sometimes see on TV from thousands of miles away (i.e., I don't know ****), I'd be surprised if he didn't appear on a set next season.

My first two guesses were Dabo and Kiffin.

I think Dabo has hurt his chances with the last couple seasons -- the lack of regard for the transfer portal being a major issue. You can't be a contender without it.

If this had been two years ago he would have been the heir apparent

I suspect Lanning is smart enough to pass on this.

Guess we'll see how much Alabama means to Sark.

Lanning's extension before the season was six years, $45 million. If Bama doubles that, he's going to say no? Especially with a move to a conference where you don't know just how good you might be in the coming years
