NFC Title Game Thread

I'm going to try and type this realllllly slow, so maybe you can understand.

Just because one team might be the best ever doesn't automatically make it the biggest upset ever if it loses.

For example: Let's say the Patriots score 100 on a scale of greatness. Who's to say this Giants team isn't an 80? Or a 90?

You want the biggest upset ever?

New York 16, Baltimore (-18) 7

The Jets' win was a much more significant win than a Giants win would be, but it wouldn't be a bigger upset.

EDIT: OK, mustard, and I won't be a **** and type this slowly: It's pretty clear that Jets team was pretty damn good, in hindsight. Therefore, your point is worthless. Typing slow, that's W O R T H L E S S.

Oh, and in case you forgot,

New England 20, St. Louis (-14) 17 was a pretty huge one, as well.
Not to mention my personal favorite: Denver 31, Green Bay (-11) 24

But this Giants team is dog****?

You can't argue that any upset wasn't that big a deal just because it happened. There's a reason that line was 18 points.

Using that argument, if the Giants win it WOULDN'T be the biggest upset ever, because it would have turned out the Giants were pretty good.

You can't have it both ways. You can't keep saying those other upsets aren't that big a deal because the underdog was better than everyone thought. Because if the Giants win, then guess what? It'll turn out they were pretty good, too.

To be fair, when does a Giants win away from The Meadowlands cease to be a shocker?

Uh, they were when it counted.

And here's where I'm coming from. In the regular season, the Patriots were 16-0, the Giants 10-6. Has there ever been a Super Bowl where the two teams were separated by that many wins? So if the team with six, SIX, less wins in the regular season beats the team with six more wins (not to mention that team never, NEVER, lost) it would be, IMO, the biggest upset in NFL history.

The Jets don't count because they did not at the time play in the NFL. They played in the vastly inferior AFL, a league that would never have any chance of competing against NFL teams.

Therefore, the team that would beat them, and do it in the biggest game of the year (not the final regular-season game, which, in the grand scheme of things is usually not as important as th Super Bowl. Usually.), would be pulling off the biggest upset in NFL history.
