I was just wondering a couple of days ago . . . the space can't really be infinite, can it?

As the story suggests, this is the first move for Internet providers to start charging users based on bandwidth usage rather than a flat monthly fee.

Wouldn't surprise me if service providers hit us with e-mailing charges and stuff like that at some point. Maybe only a penny, but think of the money that would generate every day.

Does this mean we would have to pay for the porn again?

Oh yes, there will be blood.

If that happens, and we start to get detailed bills, you can bet your sweet ass I'll make it a point to go to the most messed up websites on the net just to call customer service and ask them to verify the sites I surfed.

Me: "Um, hello, I just got a bill in the mail saying I owe you guys $12.50 extra for surfing the net?"

Customer service representative: "Yes, sir. We here at Cox Communications have instituted a new fee for customers who use a lot of bandwidth. Taking a look at your bill here, it seems you visited 'www.larry-kings-****-looks-like-a-dolphin.com" 453 times this month, 'www.i-want-to-eat-jello-from-inside-the-ass-crack-of-star-jones.com' 475 times and downloaded six movies off of the site 'www.giant-black-bear-from-the-woods-violates-small-and-afriad-japanese-girls-named-debby'."

Me: "Oh, and that's why your charging me the extra money?"

Customer Service Representative: "Well, that and the 1,323 times you emailed Kevin Federline and told him to die."

Me: "Right then. Have a good day."

Of course not. As Ted Stevens warned us, the series of tubes will one day be full:

They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the internet. And again, the internet is not something you just dump something on. It's not a truck.

It's a series of tubes.

And if you don't understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and its going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.

The one good thing about this thread is the title gave Dean Singleton a rash.

I'd rather "rash" be replaced with "coronary," but that's just me.

Might have to head out to Californ-i-way. Heard there be some Internet out there.

I was slimed! It's ectoplasm!

And we shouldn't use the Internet to look at porn -- more than twice a day.
