My goal is to actually have a social life this year. Work makes it tough, but I could put more effort into it.

Despite his bad grammar, indiansnetwork makes a good point. If I thought I really had the will to quit smoking, there is no reason to wait another week.

That's a fact, spup. Quitting smoking is the best thing you'll ever do for yourself, and for those who love you. Get a jump on the New Year and start tomorrow.

I'm not much for resolutions, but I once heard that how you spend New Year's Day is indicative of how you will spend the rest of the year. I try to do things that make me happy on that day and let the good karma flow...

Exactly my thoughts, Cadet. I'm very seriously considering foregoing a New Year's Eve date in favor of giving my son a pretty cool fireworks show, something I know he enjoys. My sister owns several stands and I always get everything for almost nothing.

Opening a year with a smile on my son's face? Good god, how could it be any better?

That sounds like a great plan, Alley. :)

When I was younger I went to some fantastic New Year's Eve parties. Had fun, got lit, met boys. But it wasn't a lot of fun to start the New Year with a monster headache and nausea.

Good thing my son is only 4, which means I won't have to worry about him drinking for....(counting years)...AAGGHH!

That's bad news for the millions who spend half the day vomiting after a wild New Year's Eve.

Lovely. I have to spend six hours on the road New Year's Day.

My goal is to take everything I've done this year ... and do the very opposite in 2007.

I know most people make them and never stick to them, but I thought I'd make a few resolutions which I KNOW will make me feel better...

This year, Alley vows to stop eating his own poop.

What's a better resolution: to get my 5,000th post in 2007 or to NOT get my 5,000th post in 2007?

Wow...Dyepack gets into the insult action too. Thanks, especially if this is all you have to contribute.

Alley,

I resolve to do point C about twice a week, not once a year, but it never works out. It's basically impossible (at least for me) to be Mr. Nice Guy when something posted here really riles me up. The only way is to take a break from the board, which I occasionally do.

Finally get it through my head that this isn't some pinball machine that I'll be able to feed another quarter into when the game goes Tilt.

I've got to save myself.

Very mature attitude, Jack, one I'm glad to see, especially since you and I rarely see eye-to-eye. Thank oyou.

You know, you'd think a person whose team won the World Series would be less angry. But the way the cocksucking, low-rent, ass-eating Chiefs are playing -- and have played -- you'd be wrong. ****ing cocksuckers should have won AT LEAST two more games this season, but they rolled over against the Dolphins and the Browns -- the ****ing Browns.
I'd like to be less angry. I guess I'l have to stop watching the Chiefs. Or get a prescription for Percocet.

I find it amusing that this was joe's 666th post. Chiefs=Spawn of Satan. Being a Chiefs fan=Eternal Torment (cf. Sisyphus)

I have never had trouble distinguishing the real world from the anonymous Internet world - so I will try to limit the resolutions I mention here to things I could change about myself on the Internet

1. I will try to be nicer on this board. That means I will no longer jump ugly with someone just because they are a moron and I will try to refrain from pushing the buttons of simpletons just to get them all worked up because their reply posts though amusing to me (and to those who know I'm just pushing buttons) are just too predictable.

2. I will try to stop immediately thinking that a girl who puts a cigarette in her mouth will put anything in her mouth (like all sorts of food or the dicks of strange men). Though mostly true in real life - this is the Internet and I should refrain from having that thought here because chubby girls talking about smoking turns to images of fat chicks with the dicks of hobos in their mouth which leads to me scrubbing my eyeballs. And who needs to scrub their eyeballs?

3. I will feel nothing but pity for BYH - he is a man worthy of pity. We should all pray for him. Each of us could in fact pick a certain ailment such as his receding hairline, his growing gut, his impotence, his psoriasis or his halitosis to concentrate our good thoughts on.

4. I will win the NIAFL baseball league this year.

5. Buck? **** Buck - its back on *****!

It's a resolution...I'll say that much. Evil, but still a resolution.

I do have to ask this to you, and some of the others who intentionally post things just to rile up others. Do you really get that much enjoyment out of it? Seriously. I ask because that's exactly the sort of thing a bully does, and I'd hope by our advanced ages, taken as an average across the board, that we'd be more mature than that. Just a thought.

Dennis Leary may have made a name and a fortune for himself by being an asshole, but if I see an asshole going through a crosswalk, I'm a lot less inclined to, y'know, stop.

Alley - its a Catch-22. I say I want to stop the posts that get predictable responses and right away I get a predictable response.

As far as getting enjoyment out of it - what does anyone really get out of posting anything on this board? Is real life so bad for the folks who spend all their waking hours logged on here? Is life so "unenjoyable" to them? But I digress - I'm supposing you posed this same question to Fenian - because he starts threads that are always aimed at riling up the 50% who voted Republican. To not pose that question to Fenian would be hypocritical of you and we all know that as we mature we are supposed to get less hypocritical. Right?

So you won't brake your car for a real person over something that was said on an Internet board? Good thing for me that I don't use crosswalks - huh? Bad thing for you that this board can get to you at such a visceral level. Is that amusing or just sad? My guess is that its just predictable.
