50 Cent and Kanye West are planning to have a presidential-style debate to promote the simultaneous releases of their new albums.

West reportedly initiated the challenge when he was on US radio station BET's 106 & Park after hosts Terrance J and Rosci suggested the hip-hop stars square off.

West's Graduation album and 50 Cent's new record Curtis are both scheduled for release on September 11.

Speaking on Yahoo Music TV, the 'Candy Shop' rapper accepted West's challenge.

The hip-hop star said: "I accept the challenge. Kanye, he's not going to want to show up. Just don't be asking me if I am a conscious rapper. I know exactly what I am saying - so I am conscious."

I will purchase Kanye West's new CD, along with Common's new CD. I will not purchase 50 Cent's new CD.

That's all I got. Carry on.

Does BET have a radio station? Because 106 & Park is a TV show on Black Entertainment TELEVISION. Hence the BET.

That being said...I won't buy either CD. :(

I will not buy either of these cd's. After the first listen, I really like Common's new cd.

Yeah, I don't get Common. I know that makes me "low class" or whatever, but I don't.

I really liked Kanye's first, even liked his second. What I've heard of this one is garbage. And what's up with the moniker change? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I've never bought a Kanye musical item. I will now after seeing that he produced Common's new CD, which is a thousand grand slams in the same inning.

50 Cent? Eh, who cares, although I do buy Vitamin Water.

They postponed 50 Cent's album due to a lack of club hits, that is why he came up with that new song "Ayo" with Justin Timberlake. Kanye should come out with a good CD again. I like his new song "Stronger" and of what I can tell, the production looks solid.

Kanye is greatness. I haven't heard anything about the new album but I love the first two.

"Throw your diamonds in the sky"

Zach Galifianakis is in an alternative version of a video for a song on Graduation that I think may be a single they'll try to push. It was filmed in western NC, on Zach's farm. Odd but funny ...

I am excited for Kanye. The bits I have gotten in advance seem pretty good and I like the new single.

I would normally pick up the 50, but I absolutely despised The Massacre. What an awful follow up to a very solid first (mainstream) album. I don't think I'll be getting that one.

As for the new Common, I like it fine. But I'm just not feelin' it like I usually do. It's much more mellow than some of his past outings. Not bad mellow, just different. I still like the T.I. album best among the summer releases.

Was Common's last CD called "Be"? I think it was. I bought it and, well, nothing.

I'm critical about music, and "Finding Forever" is everything I want in a complete album. I mean, ****, the last song is genius. I can (and did) listen to it for 3-plus hours in a row because I couldn't get enough of it.

The fact Kanye produced it makes me want to buy something by him now.

You think Fitty is a man of his word?

NEW YORK (AP) — 50 Cent may be getting hip-hop’s equivalent of a gold watch next week.
Early reports have Kanye West beating 50 in their much-hyped battle of album sales: West’s “Graduation” is on pace to sell about 575,000 to 700,000 its first week out, while 50 Cent’s “Curtis” is on track to do 550,000, according to Billboard magazine. As of day one, Kanye had sold 437,000 copies to 50’s 310,000, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
Both albums came out Tuesday, and a confident 50 Cent famously announced that he would retire if West outsold him in first-week sales.
“I just don’t view him as competition based on our previous sales histories,” 50 Cent told The Associated Press last month.
But it looks as if 50 underestimated the power of West, and perhaps, overestimated his own appeal.
“I don’t think it’s helped 50 that so many of these prerelease singles that have come out have fizzled on the charts right away,” said Jonathan Cohen, Billboard’s senior editor. “There were street date changes. It has just not been a good run-up to this record for him.”
Meanwhile, Cohen says West is having a more “charmed” experience, despite his recent tantrum at the MTV Video Music Awards after going home empty-handed.
“These tantrums he goes on, these outlandish comments he makes, they don’t really hurt him,” said Cohen. “If anything, they’ve got more people interested in what he’s all about.”
Still, don’t finalize those retirement party plans for 50 just yet; there are several days to go before a final tally is determined, and he could catch up and overtake West.
“It is a projection,” Cohen said of the initial sales predictions. “It can very easily deviate.”
And there’s still the potential of a third-party candidate winning the race: country superstar Kenny Chesney, who’s “Just Who I Am: Poets and Pirates” also was released on Tuesday, is so far on pace to sell 400,000 to 550,000 copies.

Fifty backed down from those statements a long time ago. I'm surprised this writer didn't do the research and find that.

P.S. The Kanye CD is outstanding and 50's, while better than The Massacre (it would almost have to be) is average at best.

50's album is generic 50. It's better than the awful "Massacre", but still quite mediocre and not nearly coming close to "Get Rich or Die Trying." 50 lacks the hunger that made him great on his mixtapes and first album. It's definitely time for him to retire.

Kanye's album disappointed me quite a bit. While "College Dropout" will probably never be matched, I expected a "Late Registation"-esque record with some incredible tracks like We Major, Roses, and Gone. Don't get me wrong, "Graduation" is still really really good. But it doesn't have as many standout songs as either of the first two albums. Maybe I'll change my mind after a few more listens.

I loved College Dropout. I tolerated Late Registration, but only got it from a burned copy from a friend. I'm not excited about Graduation.

And I L-O-V-E-D College Dropout.

I read Rolling Stone's dual features on 50 and Kanye, and they were enjoyable. Spurred me to buy Kanye's CD yesterday. I'll buy 50 tomorrow.

Kanye's CD stinks, which is disappointing, because after he produced Common's "Finding Forever," which is unbelievable, I thought, "OK, Kayne's new CD will be sharp.

Nope. Other than his mash-up of Daft Punk's Bigger, Stronger, Faster, the rest of the CD is blase. On a scale of 1-10, it gets a 4 or 5.
