Ryan, about that Iowa St. video, Rhodes pretty sealed the deal that he's staying in Ames until Pollard whacks him.

Pollard, for the most part, looks like a lucky genius for getting a guy who wants to be in Ames, as compared to Chizik, who couldn't wait to head back to the Plains quicker than a greased pig running around in a gym.

ESPN is reporting that Spikes have asked Urban to sit out the Vandy game (yes, the 1st and 2nd halves).

I wonder if Urban "told" Spikes to say that he wanted to sit this game out.

Compare this to Michigan and DickRod, where a U-M offensive lineman strikes at an Illinois player after the UI player recovers a fumble.

Michigan player says he hit with an open hand, although video evidence kinda refutes that. You can't see the actual hit/contact, but it's a quick punch-like move (why would you do that with an open hand?)
And the Illinois player did walk to the sidelines hunched over.

Anyway, DickRod said he didn't see anything to suspend him over. Big Ten also reviewed and chose not to suspend (probably because you can't see the actual contact, which is obscured by a helmet).

Just got this email from the SEC office:

MEYER FINED

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Nov. 6, 2009) – University of Florida head football coach Urban Meyer has been fined $30,000 by the Southeastern Conference for his public comments concerning officiating, Commissioner Mike Slive announced Friday.

The fine is the first since the conference’s Athletic Directors, with the full support of the league’s Presidents and Chancellors, voted to have all violations of SEC Bylaw 10.5.4 enforced by suspensions and fines.

“Coach Meyer has violated the Southeastern Conference Code of Ethics,” Slive said. “SEC Bylaw 10.5.4 clearly states that the coaches, players and support personnel shall refrain from public criticism of officials. The league’s Athletics Directors and Presidents and Chancellors have made it clear that negative public comments on officiating are not acceptable.”
