Good ol' boy network takes care of its buddies like Mississippi State and Stanford, protects the SEC and ACC by giving each a ton of regionals, and doesn't give the Pac-10 champion a top-8 seed.

I can't stand Notre Dame, but their coach had a point when he said how unfair it was to the Northestern, Midwestern and West Coast schools, who regularly get screwed in selections, regional sites and pairings.

Wake me up when an ACC team actually accomplishes something at the CWS (other than Florida State).

State won 2-of-3 at Baton Rouge earlier in the season.
They had a rainout (against Tennessee) which might have allowed them to tie LSU in conference standings.
And they had a better RPI than the Tigers.
The anti-Smoke Laval campaign just got new steam.
Congrats to MSU, which started out 18-0 and was ranked No. 1 a few months back.
They deserved to be invited.
Maybe Stanford didn't, and LSU did.
Who knows?

Notre Dame probably deserved better than a three, but they're in a weak draw. Even though it's at UK, the Irish likely will win the regional.

It's similar to Louisville in basketball last year. They're the No. 4 seed in a week draw when most people thought they should have been higher. They still went to the Final Four.

The two-sport dude from Notre Dame looked like he just got off the stage with Pearl Jam and still had his buzz goin' on.

Total bull**** to take Mississippi State and leave LSU out. They should both have been in. Anyone think for one minute that LSU would have been left out if Skip Bertman were the chair of that committee?

LSU deserves to be in over:
1. Missouri
2. Stanford
3. South Alabama
4. Mississippi State
5. San Diego

Oh well. Been nice knowin' ya Smoke.

Stanford didn't deserve it; only 3 Pac-10 teams are worthy this year. You should have to go at least .500 in your conference to make the tournament, and Stanford didn't.

And that would have taken care of Mississippi State as well. As far as the committee "taking care" of LSU by unjustly denying them a place in the tournament, the Tigers were under .500 in the SEC and lost seven of their final nine games. They played themselves out.

And as far as San Diego goes, it swept three games from Texas, beat Vandy, beat Big-12 champion KU, took 2 of 3 from Houston and lost three games at Georgia by a combined four runs. I'd say the Torreros deserved their selection.

Note '84, '95 and '04. . . the No. 2 team in the country in '06.

And they got a 5 seed. At least the incoming teams are aluminum bait. ;D

**Note: 8 SEC teams in the College World Series last year, plus Ole Miss lost in the Super to the eventual national champ.  They have proved they deserve MSU and LSU.

I agree about the SEC. Some years you could take all 12 teams. This year you could have taken nine. It's the best baseball conference by a wide margin, in my opinion.

The college baseball regular season is over -- just as, in 2/3 of the nation, the weather finally becomes barely adequate to play baseball.

All college baseball teams north of the Mason-Dixon line should tell the NCAA to move the regular season to May-July, and the NCAA playoffs/CWS to August, or else they are dumping the sport.

yeah, sure, byebye. nice having you around

have collegiate athletics when nobody's in school. good idea.

If all the teams above the Mason-Dixon dropped baseball, would it change the CWS that much?

wouldn't change it at all.

Uhhh, virtually every NCAA D-I school conducts summer session.

As it stands now, college players in the North play 30-40 games for their school (with 10-20 rained or snowed out), and then go and play 60-80 games for their summer league team in Cape Cod, Alaska or wherever.

Note: 8 SEC teams in the College World Series last year,

I remember Florida and Tennessee in Omaha last year.

But when did Baylor, Texas, Tulane, Arizona State, Oregon State and Nebraska, the other teams at the 2005 CWS,  join the SEC?

(The SEC is) the best baseball conference by a wide margin, in my opinion.

20 college players were selected in the first round of the 2005 MLB draft. Not one played at an SEC school.

(Miami is) NOW an ACC team

Now let's see if they actually do something at the CWS as an ACC team (or even get there), when so many others before them with artificially high RPIs have fallen on their ass.
