Just checked out the NFL schedule on NBC Sports' website and saw that there were NO Sunday games scheduled for the second half of the season. WTF? Am I missing something here? What was the whole point in bringing in Madden and Michaels if you're own going to show games half of the season?

They get to choose good matchups -- 12 days in advance or something like that -- later in the season

Oh ok, that makes since. That will save us from watching another Oakland-Denver game that will be meaningless down the line, as Oakland will most likely be 1-10 or something.

You can't. Only about 10 people in the US get NFL Network.

I'm among the 10. They're getting better, but it's still a pretty disappointing product.

With Michaels and Madden doing the Sunday night game, doesn't it feel like "Monday Night Football," as we've known it, never left? And without all the stupid gimmicks ABC fell into....so far.

The game broadcast seems mostly unchanged. However, I really enjoy the highlights show with Bob Costas, Sharpe, Collinsworth and Bettis.

Hell, I'll take anything to avoid Sports Center's "NFL Blitz."

Except the vid clips of the players introducing themselves. Dumb gimmick. Why re-use it?

Did you see Santana Moss. He just said: "Santana Moss ... The U"
Of course if my school played as bad as they have the last two years, I'd be a little vague about where I matriculated.

The Redskins really blow. I don't know who's more sad and pathetic hanging on, Brunell or Gibbs.

Most of the Miami grads (with the notable exception of Shockey) do that. It's a reference to the U on Miami's helmet.

And you're right ... it's stupid.

Actually it's Bryant Gumbel and Cris Collinsworth.
Not that that is much better, but it's a start.

The guy on NFL Network right now has been funny all day.

$10 says if you asked any given 10 NFL players where they matriculated, nine of them would look at you funny, and then tell you they don't matriculate in public.

I always thought it refered to Miami grading system

"U for Unatisfactory"

Other than the annoying know it all Bob Costas, I actually enjoy the sunday night games just as much this year as I did with ESPN last year.

Oh, I don't know. Considering what was there before -- as in, dead air -- I think having the chance to see ALL the preseason games wasn't too shabby at all. And it's HD, as well.

Like I said, it's getting better, but it still repeats an awful lot of programming that's mediocre to begin with.

That said, the preseason games were nice and I do like the idea of the abridged games they show during the week, though I haven't seen it yet. Now if they do that for ALL of the games, then we're getting somewhere.
