I just read the original NYDN report for the first time. The hede clearly states, "...cops say," but there is not a single thing in the article attributed to anyone but the girl herself and her father.

By the way, her father is pretty awesome with his, "What are you gonna do, kids are ****ing crazy" shtick.

Then, about a week ago, there were stories that she was missing -- her dad had filed a missing person's report. Then a few days after that, there were stories that she had been found -- but with no details about where she had been. Then yesterday, stories saying she had made up the subway story.

She sounds like a troubled person.

Except that her strict Muslim parents really are an issue for her. She made up the story to avoid getting in trouble, and then she ran away from home.

The girl needs help. She's not safe at home.

Police sources say Seweid made up the story because she didn’t want to get in trouble for breaking her curfew after being out late drinking with friends.
