Lindley's lap steel work is so damn good, and he really shines on "Redneck Friend" and "Mercury Blues". The guy could play anything with strings. I caught him solo at City Stages, a downtown festival here. It was just Lindley and a Turkish drummer who played the talking drums. Lindley was playing blues and slide on an Oud and a Saz.

He's out there playing the "Peanut Blues" on these with this funkyass drummer and still lighting it up, it was fabulous. That was part of my guitar weekend at City Stages, I caught David Lindley, Doc Watson, Johnny Winter, and Leo Kottke all in one weekend.
