He made a comment once on The Sports Reporters (I actually think this was the last time I watched the show) where he thought if you kicked a field goal on second down and missed completely, you were given another chance on third down.

Then again, we all know how easily minority writers at our college papers got jobs in the mid-80s/early 90s. I think the four at my student paper all had jobs before they graduated, but our editors could do no better than string.

True, but SAS screwing up a basic rule of football really stood out.

Trust me, I think Wilbon, Michael Smith and many of the other minority writers do a great job. SAS is just so obviously bad. I'm actually trying to think who could be worse, but the only person who comes to mind is Rhoden. The Texas guy who does/did Cold Pizza is pretty awful as well, IMO. Skip Bayless. That is his name.

The problem is the know it all, screaming tone of voice. It is beyond annoying even when I am interested in what he's saying. It is even worse when he's talking about sports or topics which are beyond his expertise. The best sports radio hosts make it seem like you are having a conversation with them. Instead, SAS screams at you.

Good point.

What hurts all of these guys like SAS and Mort is that there really is only one "insider" who I think gives accurate information on a consistant basis and that is Gammons. It really is tough for all of these guys when you look at how strong Gammons is at his job. Clayton is pretty good as well, and Melrose, possibly.

I cannot think of any others right away.
