It is with deep sadness that today we are announcing the closing of Media General's Washington, D.C. bureau.
The bureau staff, led by Marsha Mercer, is an outstanding group of journalists who have worked long and hard to produce quality multimedia journalism for Media General's readers, viewers and online users. They are to be applauded for turning the bureau into a dynamic multimedia newsroom.
The bureau has a rich legacy and the current staff leaves an even richer legacy of which they, and we as well, can all be proud.
We wish them well and we thank them for their dedication. I hope you also will express your thanks to the Washington bureau team.
