Like clockwork Luppy puts aside his hatred for The Yankees and rolls out his annual The Yankees are October column.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/2010/10/09/2010-10-09_once_more_hes_an_october_dynamo_at_40_years_young_rivera_showing_twins_this_is_y.html

God what tripe:

"Mo Rivera, who knows as much about these nights as any great Yankee, has it right. October comes back to the Stadium and to New York Saturday night. It is as much New York as we have."

The playoffs started out of town this time, one of the rare times that has happened over the last decade-and-a-half. The Yankees started in a terrific baseball city and a wonderful new ballpark. It was still out of town. Baseball in October is supposed to be played here.

Damn those road games. The commissioner should declare that the Yankees get all playoff games at home!

Let's see:

1. Rivera gives cliched response about God and a day-old line about going back to New York. Well duh, Game 3 is in New York. That's how the schedule is set up.

2. The third game is Saturday night at the Stadium. Um, yeah, that's what the schedule says.

So yeah, that's what I got out of the column. In other words, absolutely nothing.

Luppy has been writing the same October column for the past 15 years. The rest of the year he despises the Yankees.

Allen Barra made me laugh this morning ...

We don't want to belabor the obvious -- that's Mike Lupica's job.

Ah, Lupica. What is he good for? "Absolutely nothing. Say it again!"

The 5-0-on-the-road-in-the-postseason Rangers concur.
