Wow. No. 1-ranked player in the world, 27 victories, only 28 years old.

WTF?

That's a pretty big bombshell.

She hasn't been playing well of late.. Supposedly doesn't have much interest in it either, and she's ready to start a family.
Two years ago she was the best female player on the planet.
Best of luck to her.

The story says she married the CEO of Aeromexico. So it's not like she needs to golf for the money.

Her heart hasn't been in it for a couple of years now. Marriage absolutely changed her priorities. I'm surprised a bit by the mid-season timing, but not by the retirement itself.

"What took her so long?"

And, of course, the competitive juices will be flowing in about 18 months and she will contemplate a return.

She'd still play if she hadn't slept around with everyone. Oh wait ...

The stories I've read have made it abundantly clear that she isn't automaticaly lgone for good.

If even a tenth of the good stories I've read about her are true, a genuine class act and a big, big loss for the LPGA.

Huge loss for the LPGA. Surely she'll get the itch to come back, hopefully, but who knows what kind of tour will be left for her.

Nancy Lopez played very well after both child one and two. Don't know if the comparison fits, however; she loved playing golf. I don't know Ochoa.

Won't take up one iota of debate time on sports radio or probably here either, but Ochoa technically is not a Hall of Famer. She has met the World Golf Hall of Fame criteria on points (i.e. winning a helluva lot), but has only played eight years and the Hall requires 10.

That ain't right. Right?

Right.

I think.

This might clear things up a bit .. Apparently Ochoa, a devout Catholic, was having some difficulty gaining acceptance of her husband, who is 12 years old, divorced and has three kids.

Ochoa was also snubbed by the Vatican.

12 years oldER. Just to clarify. I clicked on the link just to figure out what they were putting in the water.

Beautiful. A class act like her gets snubbed by the Vatican. Too bad they haven't snubbed enough pedophile priests.
