Brian Williams is a meme now. I can't tell you how many social media posts I saw yesterday with Brian Williams saying "I was molested by Matt Lauer." You can't have that guy as your news anchor. Yes, he's still toxic.

Lauer is absolutely, positively done at NBC. Beyond the audience distaste, look at it this way: you think the network lawyers would be OK with rehiring a guy accused of sexually assaulting co-workers? How do you think that goes for the company when there's a new accusation after they re-hired a guy that they knew sexually assaulted co-workers?

If Carson Daly had more of a news background, he could slide into Lauer's role because he's certainly comfortable on camera. But being that Daly is more from the entertainment background, I would be shocked if it was him.

Total guess, but there had to be serious ad money tied up in that to keep it going with the expenses it must have rung up each year.

Can they keep it going in some form to keep those buys?

The impact on the business side is going to be yuge.

It's not so much in the Where in the World part as the whole inventory for why NBC makes so much money off Today. (And why Carson made so much money for NBC for two decades -- he had 17 million viewers a night in the late 70s).

You have FOUR hours of morning content to sell (two for Today, Megyn Kelly and the Hoda/Kathie Lee wine hour). The ads from 7 to 7:30 sell for the most and then it trickles off. Even paying Lauer $25 million a year hardly put a major dent in the revenue.

I’d they want a man, and want to stay within the NBC family, they really should consider Farrow.

He proven himself to be a reporter. He’s young and good looking, with a law degree, government experience, and on camera experience.

Women would like him, and would trust him. They wouldn’t be wondering if he was raping an intern.

One other guy would be Luke Russert.

He can cover politics, but has a lot of “aw shucks” appeal to him. He wouldn’t be out of place doing a cooking segment or a celebrity profile, and would have fun in the job.

Either one could be accepted by the audience, and grow into a star.
