So in the epic struggle of the millionaires vs. the billionaires, round one goes to the millionaires.

First they have to ask for the stay, then the appeal. It's early yet, but the owners are down one. If the Eighth Circuit doesn't grant the stay, there will be a quick settlement, because there would be no Basic Agreement, no rules, and no antitrust protection. There might be a reasonably quick settlement even if it does.

Anyone know who one of the NFL's lawyers is?

Paul Clement from the DOMA case.

Suck it owners. Though I'm sure they'll pursue a stay.

They'll appeal it up to a level where it gets heard by a Republican judge, then they win.

In the meantime Congress will undoubtedly ram through some critically-needed piece of legislation to protect poor persecuted multi-billionaire pro sports owners from the cruelly onerous requirements of having to abide by antitrust laws like everybody else, and preserve the future of our society by basically giving them authority to do whatever they want to whoever they want.
