He was found, and who was found is probably in a very bad place.

Don't tease your story like that, tweet about it, get anticipation up. ... and then respond to that query with, "Can't help. Nothing personal."

Pearlman probably discovered Brooks was a Republican.
Or he was really Will Clark
"
"Jeff Pearlman! Jeff ****ing Pearlman!" Clark's voice grew increasingly loud — the famous, cat-choking-on-a-lugnut Will the Thrill cackle in full bloom.

"Uh, yup."

"Jeff ****ing Pearlman! Now why the **** would anyone in here want to talk to you? Why the **** would we wanna talk to you, after what you did to (John) Rocker? Why?"

Careful folks, Pearlman used to respond with indignant DMs any time his name was mentioned on here.

I've heard that too. He's apparently a real red ass. Can dish out but can't take it.

Also heard from a friend that he came on here once using the name Biff and posted on a thread about Pearlman. Someone called him on it and he had to admit that Biff was really himself.

The best thing about that story is that Biff posted asking what Jeff 'Perlman' had been up to lately...

... Spelling his own name wrong to throw people off the trail.

I believe he's had a few different aliases over the years and has also posted under his own name.

Thanks for checking in, Jeff.

Is there a link to the "Biff" thread?

What I love about it is that it reminds me of Trump pretending to be his own publicist. And, of course, Pearlman hates Trump so much.

Some writers are lousy reporters. But you love reading them.
Pearlman is a good reporter. His writing style is horrid, though.

Sounds like once Pearlman fully thought the story through he wasn't comfortable with it. Does it look bad after he teased it? Sure, but I'd like to think most of us would do the same after carefully evaluating the ethical considerations of a delicate story, assuming that's what's going on here.

Pearlman never seemed to have ethical doubts based on past history

I don't think it happens much around here these days. You have to be a real baby to block someone.

Anyone know when Pearlman's Favre book is due out? Around HOF inductions, maybe?

Given the negative slant of the discussion, I feel somewhat obliged, for balance, to say that I greatly enjoyed the two Pearlman books I've read (Showtime and Boys Will Be Boys) and on social media I've seem him engage Republicans/conservatives in pointed but substantive debate.

Not arguing that he's never made a false move, but from what I've seen he's better than this thread would suggest.
