Michael_ Gee said:Mizzou, the problem for Fox is that their prime time programming ends at 10, not 11. This puts any late night show on the network out of synch. Show it at 10:30, you're up against prime time shows. Wait until 11:30 and you have no lead-in at all, and your audience is already cutting z's.

Michael_ Gee said:The two major advantages for a station of being a Fox affiliate are getting NFL games and all the extra time you have to present local news (cash cow) and syndicated programs. Fox wouldn't want to mess with that, because with the decline of American Idol their network ratings are starting to deteriorate.

bigpern23 said:Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the main reason there is no 11 p.m. Fox programming because the affiliates rake in cash for advertising sold during syndicated programming? So Fox is going to have to convince its affiliates to give up all those programming dollars for, what, five years of Leno?

Michaels has been the late night producer the whole time Fallon has been doing it, and the whole time Conan was doing it and also produced 30 Rock... This shouldn't be any big change for him.

I know. I was making a joke. Poorly, it seems.
