It's Gillispie for UK

Moddy, everyone is going to botch that last name up, no matter how good our intentions are to get it right. But, holy cow, what a move. Todd Wright on SNR during his segment of "Winners and Losers" hit it on the nail by calling A&M losers for not having Gillispie sign that contract, thus letting him look around and having UK nab him during the night.

Congratulations College Station for screwing this one up and letting him walk.

Like that would have stopped Gillispie from walking weeks later, when Kentucky called. He would have left just the same.

Yeah. Great for him.

"Let's see, Billyboy, do you really like those boosters treatin your program like a second-class citizen? C'mon up here and sniff the good life."

It's a good life alright until you lose two straight. Or bow out of the tournament again in the second round.

Welcome to hell, Billy. You'll want to lick a cadet's boots in repentance before long.

The best part about this:
From the Lexington Herald-Leader's Website:
"Pick up our Extra Edition on the hiring this afternoon at Memorial Coliseum or at Kroger, Wal-Mart, Meijer or Shell locations!"
Yup, they sure do love their UK hoops up there. Amazing.

So, let me get this straight:

Gillispie begins his news conference talking about dedication and relationships with players.

The same guy who has yet to recruit a class and stay through its senior year.

Funny stuff.

Love in his news conference, when asked if he or his "representatives" were contacted prior to yestersday:
"I don't have any representatives. I'm a country boy... There were conversations between a mutual friend."
If I was in that news conference, I only wish I had the stones to ask who it was.

Maybe so, but if he doesn't produce magic in Lexington, he won't see his first class graduate after playing at Rupp, either.

I wonder how many Kentucky fathers will now name their newborn sons Billy Clyde?

Yeah, but what does that have to do with Billy Gillispie? :D

I wonder if a Colette Connell look-alike will greet him on the tarmac of the airport...

Bama still wins... this didn't drag out nearly as long...

Methinks TSP was talking about Billy's and Carlos' abilities to negotiate contracts.

So, what's Billy's first endorsement deal at Kentucky? Maker's Mark? Jim Beam? Woodford Reserve?

Four Roses. Better than them all.

Thanks for taking the job, Billy.

Now, about that NCAA tournament thing … yeah, we’re gonna have to go ahead and ask you to win that thing next year.

So, do old-time Kentuckians feel they now got their payback for Bear Bryant?

Why would you hire DIzzy Gillespie? ****'s been dead for 15 years. And UK screwed themselves with Bear Bryant. Rupp got special reatment that Bahr didnt and it pissed him off.

C-J posts story about Gillispie's prior arrests (click here), and already UK fans go crazy, ripping the C-J for negative journalism.

One UK fan goes so far to say that the story of his law-breaking past "has nothing to do with this man as a coach." ::)

I'm pretty sure he already got that memo.

I was at the PC today, and afterwards while Barnhart was talking to some reporters, one of the TV guys from Louisville said "we" talking about the program.

Kentucky — where the K stands for Karacter.

It's not like Pitino was a choir boy either. The two coaches UK fans hate most, Hall and Smith, were two of the best people they had.

Just win baby!!!!

Sorry but I've been out of the loop of late, did Donovan turn them down or did this guy just say yes faster?

Donovan said thursday he was happy in Florida and had no interest in the UK job.
