I read about it and, indeed, it did hurt just to do that.

I suppose the Nationals won't be contracting open-top buses any longer. One thing that struck me from the article was this:

In the wake of the accident, it's possible the city will "rethink where we allow open-top double-decker buses to go" in the District, he said. But city officials want to wait for the investigation to be completed first.

In this case, "he" is the district's transportation director. I would have thought there'd be a separate rule for open-top buses already.

If I read this correctly, there were 16 people on the upper deck of the bus. 14 made the ride just fine; the two who died were standing up, possibly even standing on the seats.

I'm sorry these two young men lost their lives. But, similar to the kid who was decapitated by the rollercoaster, their stupidity was the primary cause of death.

Not sure a very poor decision choice by two individuals warrants changing, or perhaps eliminating, a service that many thousands of others can and have enjoyed.
