And I know he doesn't care for Islam and Muslims in general. But there are plenty of people who would, generally, agree with that sentiment, and who also would not bother pretending that they actually are all for supporting a religion that, frankly, seems to foster evil and destruction and narrow-mindedness more than any other, and do it just for the sake of political correctness and because it might make them appear tolerant and "better".

What's more, just because he may not actually care that 100 people who he doesn't even know died, it doesn't mean that he was rejoicing that they did, either.

He characterized their deaths as a positive intervention by G-d. That sure as hell sounds like rejoicing.

Then again, you seem to share his issues with Muslims.

Is it possible that tony doesn't mean any of this crap and he's playing a character? Perhaps. I haven't met him in person. But I have seen posts that reveal bigotry, hatred and the capacity to derive joy from the suffering of others. Just as I have seen a capacity within you to staunchly defend people who do disgusting things just because their beliefs align with yours.

You know nothing about me, or my faith or Christianity as I practice it, or the store where I work, or how I treat others. Because you've apparently learned nothing and don't have very good instincts or much intuitiveness or empathy.

It is an awful thing that 107 people died. Yes, I care. Is it dominating my day? No, but it is sad.

And you are defending somebody rejoicing in their deaths. You are doing that by defending tony. Perhaps you don't understand what he did because he changed the title of the thread, but he is taking joy from the death of 107 human beings, calling it proof that the G-d he loves is taking an active role in the world.

Stating that the world would be better off without Islam is bigotry. Pure and simple. You softened the statement a bit, but if that was your point, you were showing yourself to be a bigot.

That is where some of the disconnect is coming. Tony's initial post was far more disgusting than what appears now due to the title change.

I also don't pretend not to think it.

That does not, however, keep me from being just fine with the few peace-loving, normal, non-fanatic Muslims that I do know personally. Because I know them and have come to like them. I also suspect that o_t would be just fine with them, too. Because he'd know them personally.

The point of that is that knowing and liking someone personally, individually and face-to-face is not the same as knowing and liking -- or disliking -- people (or their religion) generally, especially when there actually is good reason to do so.
