At least this completely overshadowed the overnight chemical truck crash and spill that closed the Downtown Connector until like 6:30-7 am.

I know I shouldn't laugh given the circumstances, but there's something funny about that guy futilely holding up a tape measure to a giant gaping hole in a major interstate, as if he's going to go back to his truck and come back with a trowel and some ready mix and patch it right up.

I completely expect that.

It really hasn't been all that bad. The morning has been more congested and added about 10 minutes or so to my total travel time as more people negotiate 285 to get into downtown. I do expect to get those 10 minutes back.

And the evening commute on the whole has actually been better than before the collapse. Have shaved anywhere from 10-30 minutes off the night time duration. Part of that is I guess how the traffic funnels up 85 north of the perimeter after being cutoff 9 miles south. But, I have to believe part is behavioral changes as well--more use of MARTA, more work from home or adjusting hours.

If the behavioral part is true, we'll see if it sticks, or if it was just a short term reaction to an emergency situation, and everything returns to prior state now that the roads are all operational again.
