The Cleveland Middle Fingers.

I've been thinking of this since I got the push notification. Honestly, Cleveland should be forced to change its name both because they're racist and bad. Like once you get to 75 years without a title, you have to start over at the beginning.

I'd be all for Spiders, assuming they could get the trademark past the University of Richmond. All I ask is that it end in an S.
Does the University of Richmond have control over that nationwide?

Does the University of Richmond have control over that nationwide?

From last summer:
“The University of Richmond has several registered word and trademarks involving the spider. Like other colleges and universities, Richmond takes appropriate action when it believes that a third party is infringing on its marks,” Cynthia Price, the university’s associate vice president of media and public relations, wrote in an email response to a Times-Dispatch inquiry on Monday.

I'm guessing they have a price to share.

Count me in also on Spiders. The one negative is that the name is associated with the worst major league team of all time, but I think people can get over it. It's interesting, unique and has the potential for a great logo. Hopefully, they could work out any trademark issues with the University of Richmond, as UPChip alluded to.

Why would Richmond have “sole” rights to that nickname? There are many “Tigers,” for example

Pay us 10% of all merchandise sales and we're good to go. Nice revenue stream to help the athletic department be self-sufficient, which is a hard thing for an FCS private school to accomplish.
