Mississippi State has something kinda, sorta similar for the freshmen men in one dorm. The night of the dorm's "birthday" the participants ante up in a pool. Then, they gear all the way down and run to the flagpole in the middle of the Drill Field. Make a lap around, then head back to the dorm. Girls wait for them with magic markers to mark their faves for class the next day; guys hurl water balloons and eggs at 'em. The pool is split down the middle: first one back to the dorm gets one half, last one back gets the other.

The event is called the Flagpole Flop.
