I came in this morning with the intention of trying to get on the phone with Dave Clark, the Houston Astros' interim manager, who's from here.

As I was settling in, I mentioned that to one of our prep guys.

"Oh, Coach (redacted) is a buddy of his. He texts back and forth with Clark all the time."

Within 90 minutes of that conversation, I'm on the phone with Clark.

That will be all of my good fortune today, I suspect.

Nah, we had the coach hook it up. After all these years, I still hate "bothering" people om the phone. But this was great ... and he said "you've got my cell number now, right? Call any time."
