I found myself wanting to play Oregon Trail tonight. I downloaded a copy from Morpheus (shhhh). Man, this game brings back memories.

God, I feel like every couple of weeks I reminisce with my friends about Oregon Trail. It always turns into making jokes about people dying of dysentary and yellow fever or drowning while attempting to ford the river. It was also great to kill like 3,000 pounds of food but only get to keep like 100 of it. That game brings back great memories.

I broke out Sid Meier's original Civilization a few weeks ago when I desperately needed to **** a few hours away procrastinating.

We didn't have Oregon Trail at my school -- at least as far as I remember.

Then again, when I went to school, it was a big deal that we had the predecessor of the Mac IIE. Talk about mid-'80s, old-school ****.

That game kicked ass.

There is a newer version of it where you can trade for goods, barter, cheat the rednecks, etc.

Of course, the hillbillies got even once by stealing all of the oxen during the night. So I managed to trade for one ox at the post. Needless to say, the pace was not fast with one ox pulling the apple cart. But we made it to the river and floated the rest of the way.

I could never figure out why my party kept getting measles, heatstroke, etc. Then I realized I could buy a cover for the wagon. After that, the game was quite easy.

Warning: Educational software is muy expensive these days, so don't plan on getting this cheaply.

Oh, how I loved that game. I think I spent too much time buying ammo and hunting for food, probably because that was my favorite part of the game. Nevermind that little Tommy died of measles, then the wife couldn't make it ... but hey, I've made it to Oregon!

I remember playing it in junior high, but what is crazy is that my crappy school still had that crappy of a computer in the early to mid 90s.
