anyone know the texas high school boys record for made 3-pointers in a game? had a kid make 16 tonight in a 4a playoff game on his way to 61 points. funny thing is that he scored 5 point the previous game.

Found this in Illinois.. that state's record is 16; not sure if its a national record...

I saw Chris Jackson (Gulfport, Miss.) hit nine 3-pointers in one quarter when he was in high school, including one on each of eight consecutive trips down the floor. The player guarding him, a state high jump champion in Louisiana, did everything he could, and Jackson still put the moves on him and got off the shot every time, each one seemingly on a higher arc than the previous.

There's only about 1,250 public high schools playing basketball in the state. No telling how many more private schools and home-school teams are out there, but I would expect the number to be at least half that, probably more.

Then there's the fact that basketball is still an afterthought -- if not a dirty word -- in much of the state.

Also, I agree with pressboxer, trying to find any information on basketball in the state of Texas can be an utter disaster.
A lot of coaches don't even know their records and just want their teams to lose so they can get on to spring football already.

It's a screwy deal. Apparently they have their own little organization, but we did have one from the area play in a holiday tournament against UIL teams.

Kentucky was thinking of going the public-private route, but it won't pass. They came close to passing it last year (forget exactly how close), but the KHSAA board of control denied the move.
