Howard Zinn, an author, teacher and political activist whose book “A People’s History of the United States” became a million-selling leftist alternative to mainstream texts, died Wednesday in Santa Monica, Calif. He was 87 and lived in Auburndale, Mass.

Didn't know he was that old.

I still have his book, which was a textbook from college.

Reading it, I found it shocking that there was a ton of stuff in it that they sure as heck weren't teaching us in high school.

His "A People's History..." is a must-read. RIP indeed.

On a similar note, I was listening to a "This Day in History" snippet on XM/Sirius POTUS channel the other day and it was LBJ's death anniv.
He was 64 years old when he died? I couldn't believe it. I always thought he was in his late 70s.
