DrownedRedneck said:Wrestling's one of those sports where it's even more shameful to say you are who you aren't.
DrownedRedneck said:When I was in college, he did an interview and lied all through it. It went in the paper and it enraged the wrestling team, since he wasn't on it.
DrownedRedneck said:I was looking for some respectable feedback. Being ignorant on the sport is what I expect on other message boards.
(The wrestler's) favorite quote is: “If you believe in the Lord, if you ask, seek or knock, you will get strength from the Lord and earn a gold medal”.
Perennially Overrated said:I think you and the deaf guy should settle this...IN THE CAGE WHILST NAKED!!!
Seriously though, I'd suggest calling the papers who ran with his story...maybe they'll do a follow-up and get the ball rolling.
TheSportsPredictor said:I would call every newspaper in existence and warn them about this guy.
Either that or get over it. But I'm not sure which one will be easier for you.

So what you're saying is, it's ok since it doesn't concern me?
It concerns my alma mater, because it also makes the program look terrible when someone with a 3-17 Greco-Roman record says they were a star wrestler at the school. I was "over it" four years ago until this surfaced and saw he was still up to his antics.

There's nothing you can do about it. Let it go.
DrownedRedneck said:No, I didn't write the story I'm talking about in college. I read it, in shock, with the rest of the folks actually on the wrestling team. I was no longer with the paper that semester, I was working at a daily.
No, not exactly answers I'm looking for because they aren't about the subject.
So let me state this again.
As a journalist, do you feel this type of thing should continue when it's been a trend with a particular athlete who wants to continue lying to the media?
That's the ultimate question I'm looking for an answer. Insert the sport of your choice to help comprehension.
I don't think I'm starting **** by any means, but respectfully asking (now) for the potshots on wrestling to not cloud the question posed.
