Saw this tweet from Peter King:

"Interesting but not too surprising: Just got stiffed at Panther camp by Cam Newton. Chose not to talk to me post-evening practice."

Don't know why he would admit this unless he wanted to throw Newton under the bus to his 600,000 Twitter followers.

Here's hoping that Newton reaches Favre / Manning / Brady status and King will have to kiss his ass.

PK tweeted it to make Newton look like **** and is trying to shame the kid into an interview.

Cam should have said he read PK's free agent predictions in SI and realized he doesn't know **** and didn't want to waste his time.

Perhaps it's a reference to the "entertainer and icon" thing, when King basically set up the quote with his question, then tweeted it with little context, sparking a controversy about Newton as a player.

Charlotte reporter noted over the weekend that Newton didn't sign some Auburn memorabilia for fans.

Cam Newton, what a terrible guy. Won't make fans happy, won't make Peter King happy.

This must be an offset for King since he does so much ass kissing of the elite QB's.

actually, considering all the inane stuff peter tweets and puts in mmqb, this wasn't too bad. newton blowing off one of the nfl's most influential reporters is pretty interesting for many of those curious about cam. you're reaching for a zinger, boom.

King's a little bit of a douche for tweeting that. As usual, making himself part of the story. Shocker. Someone blew off the almighty Peter King!!! OH NO!!!

Do we even know if Newton blew off ONLY PK or all media that particular instance?

I saw a tweet that said Cam was the last Panther to leave practice because he WAS signing autographs.

So you're saying Peter was trying to get an autograph?

Cam Newton also walked by the media at the stadium in Charlotte the first day following the lockout with a cell phone glued to his ear, not willing to talk to the media.

Peter King tends to deserve some of the criticism he receives on this board, but between blowing off the beat writers when he arrives at the stadium first day post-lockout and now King? If he's doing this now, how accountable is he going to be following a multi-INT game? Or one where he stinks and can't get the offense down the field for a potential game-winning drive in the last two minutes?

For someone who aspires to be an "entertainer/icon," this has the potential to be a serious leadership problem - with both the media and with teammates he tries to talk to in the locker room.

When will sports writers learn that fans not only don't care if they get blown off by an athlete but it probably bumps that athlete up a notch on their eyes.

The BigLead.com had an interesting item regarding Tweeting, the King item and another Tweet that might be misleading.

IMHO, Twitter has become like a comedy club where writers Tweet to entertain their followers and each other. The kind of stuff we used to say to each other in the press box is now "out there" for 600,000 followers. And, I must say, how ego-inflating must it be to know that you have 600,000 "followers." The cult of King, baby.

I'm all over the place on this one. Don't really care about Peter King. I think Cam Newton is a douche, and if you were inclined to think accountability was his strong suit, you were sadly mistaken. that hasn't been the case forever.

I don't mind a reporter making him look bad. And I can completely understand why he wouldn't want to talk to them. Nothing good has come from the media for him for the better part of a year.

I was just responding to the post that said Cam wasn't signing autographs... That tweet came from @josephperson, the beat writer for Charlotte.

Hell, the only reason I got on Twitter was to follow friends like Joe and others... I follow just a few celebrities, like Stephen Colbert and Jim Gaffigan.

Has the media reported false information about Cam Newton? Were the chronicles of his adventures through 3 different institutes of higher education not true? Was he not deemed ineligible for college athletics and made eligible within hours of each other? Were there not credible allegations of his lying, cheating and stealing? Didn't ESPN stick their collective tongue into his crotch and bathe his taint as a dove cleans the wings off a new born chick?

King maybe a douche bag, and maybe even the King of Douche Bags, but he's earned it through years of hard work and douchery, Newton is a four month wonder. **** him if he can't take it. And by it I mean the truth of a what stupendous POS he is. If he don't like it, tell his pimp of a pastor daddy to return the illgotten money and tell some truth.

Can I get a witness?
